Dubai Metro Blue Line guide: Routes, stations, key features, and opening date

Stretching 30km of new track, the Dh56 billion Blue Line will feature 14 new stations, increasing the Dubai Metro’s length to 131km. It will link important districts such as Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City. And Dubai Festival City, and include the world’s highest metro station.

What is the Dubai Metro Blue Line?

The Blue Line is a 30 km strategically important metro extension that interfaces with Dubai’s Red and Green Lines. It is composed of 14 new stations and features a blend of underground and overground tracks to facilitate accessible travel and urban connectivity.

One of the most notable features is the city’s first-ever metro bridge over Dubai Creek. A 1.3-kilometer-long structure that connects vital areas on both sides of the creek.

It will also contribute to Dubai’s objectives for sustainable urban development, smart mobility, and to accommodate its increasing population and economic hubs in areas such as educational, residential, and commercial districts.

Route Overview

The Dubai Metro Blue Line consists of two corridors, with 15.5 km underground and 14.5 km elevated:

Route 1 (Green Line Connection):

21 km, 10 stations: from Al Khor Interchange (Al Jaddaf), passing through Dubai Festival City, Dubai Creek Harbour, Ras Al Khor, International City (1, 2 & 3), Dubai Silicon Oasis, Academic City to Al Ruwaiyah 3 Depot.

Route 2 ( Red Line Connection ):
9 km, 4 stations from Centrepoint Interchange (Al Rashidiya) through Mirdif, Al Warqa, to International City 1, connecting with Route 1.

The two lines interchange at International City 1 for transfer.

Stops include exclusive bus bays, as well as taxi ranks, bicycle and e-scooter zones, and full barrier-free access. The major underground interchange station spans 44,000 square metres, with a capacity to accommodate 350,000 passengers per day.
